Taking in a puppy is a truly heartwarming gesture. It’s hard to fathom the joy a dog must feel when they trade chilly nights on the streets for a cozy home. This was the case for one lucky pup. When a woman heard about a dog struggling to survive on the streets, she knew she had to step in and provide a loving home. It was clear that this pup had a rough past, but things were about to change for the better.
Unfortunately, Stella was one of the unlucky dogs who didn’t have a loving family to care for her. Instead, she had to fend for herself by scavenging for food and finding shelter on her own. Sleeping on trash bags was far from safe for this poor pup. But despite her challenging circumstances, Stella never gave up hope. Deep down, she believed that someone would eventually come to rescue her.
Heather Martin, a remarkable woman, was on the lookout for a new four-legged addition to her family. After hearing about Stella from a friend, she wasted no time in meeting her. “A friend told me about Pooches Out of Puerto Rico, so my husband and I decided to check them out. We instantly fell in love with Stella,” Heather shared. And so began a new chapter in Heather’s life.
When they first met, it was an instant connection for Heather and Stella. Describing Stella as a loving, playful, and curious pup who loved soaking up the sun, it was clear that they were a perfect match. After deciding to give Stella a forever home, Heather made sure to take her to the vet for a much-needed checkup.
Despite enduring a tough time being left at a dump, where she had to scavenge for food and sleep on garbage bags, Stella showed incredible resilience. Dealing with severe mange, roundworms, hookworms, and scabies, she weighed only 9 pounds when rescued. But thanks to her bravery, Stella bounced back quickly and was eager to embrace her new life as a brand-new pup.
Transformed by the love and care she received, Stella’s appearance and demeanor underwent a noticeable change. Full of vitality and joy, she needed a companion who could match her energy. Heather made the decision to give her a furry friend from the local rescue, whom she named Lulu. The bond between Stella and Lulu quickly blossomed into a beautiful friendship that brought nothing but happiness and warmth to their home.
Stella’s presence has been a source of light and comfort, always ready to offer cuddles and affection when needed. Her loving nature makes her the perfect companion, spreading love wherever she goes. Heather’s act of kindness in rescuing Stella from the streets highlights the importance of providing shelter and care for animals in need.
